Forecast consumption by Movement Type 311

Hello Experts-

We have observed some strange behavior in APO system for forecast consumption. We have clearly observed that the Mvt type 311 in ECC is consuming forecast in APO system. can anyone know what may be causing this? and how to correct this?

Hello Rahul/ Ada,

Thanks for your quick reply. Please note the below points,

1. Its 311 Mvt type having the check box selected for reduction of independent requirement in ECC ( This is SAp std setting for 311)
2. Once 311 done we can see the forecast consumed in APO for the same qty. No SO created in APO at all
3. We are not creating any reservations for the for posting 311.
4. yes we work with MRP areas and the issue occurring for the product assigned MRP area & forecast profile

Hello,

As per the standard SAP for movement type 311 'Independent requirements reduction should be inactive.

There should not any consumption when you transfer material from one storage location to another.

reduction of PIR during a normal goods issue is unwanted.

In APO, reduction data is coming from ECC, so if reduction happens in ECC based on ECC settings, reduction will be CIFed and saved in APO (though there's still some setting, e.g. order category, controlls this.) However the root should be in ECC.
Not only SO consumes forecast, based on category group settings, any requirement may consume forecast. What is the corresponding order category in APO?

Hello - Thanks for your reply. I am not sure about that check box from 311 configuration. whether it should be tick or not. However we are in the process of testing the same, by deselecting the check box and observing the forecast consumption. I will inform our testing results. However what other criteria should be considered during the testing?

Hello - As per our testing we have concluded that the forecast was getting consumed due to the Movement type 311. And this was happening because of activation of check box" Planned independent reduction". We have deactivated the check box Now.

Sam,

311 is Transfer posting storage location (one-step) in ECC. This means you are transferring material from storage location to another.

Are you creating reservation (MB21) for posting 311? Is this captured as demand in APO (example as sales order with some custom development or something else) and finally consumed against forecast? Are you working with MRP area i.e. is it active in your system?

Check above points and let us know.

Not sure about the phenomenon you described.
What kind of order in APO by movement type 311? What do you see in /sapapo/rrp3?
Do you see the conusmpion in ECC or in APO?
