FO is allowing more deliveries to add when the execution status is “In-Execution” (Departure event)

Hi Experts,

We have an issue in S4 2021 Embedded, we have PGIed to one outbound delivery (WM scenario, no EWM), there will be departure event updated in Freight order execution which sets the execution status of FO is “In-Execution” . Which means that truck is departed the facility.

so now at this time when I try to add FU of 2nd outbound delivery to Freight order document which system is allowing to add 2nd FU to FO document .

Is this correct expectation as per standard, because once execution status is in-execution in FO that means truck is departed so ideally it should not be allowed any changes to add 2nd FU to the FO document , am I right ?

any idea how to control FO not to allow any additional FUs to add after execution status of FO is “in-execution”

Thanks
Kumar

Hi Kumar,

there are a lot of industries where it is quite common to add freight units during execution, as it is not 100% clear at the time of the first pickup what exactly will be shipped, therefore in general this is allowed. In S/4 2022 and 2023 we even developed some new features to better support such late addition processes.

A recommendation for your project, if you want to avoid assignment by accident. Set-up a change controller strategy that reacts on the status change to "In Execution" that fixes your freight order. This way the user would have to actively unfix the FO, when trying to assign a new demand, while FO is already in execution.
