Hello SAP Community,
I am working in a logistics process where traceability is required at individual unit level (each unit has a unique barcode / serial number / HU), while FEFO is applied at batch level.
Business context:
Materials are batch-managed with BBD maintained at batch level.
Physical units (e.g. cylinders / returnable containers) have a unique identifier (barcode / serial / HU).
During picking, operators scan each individual unit, and only at that moment the real batch and BBD are known.
Operators must not be forced to pick a specific serial/unit, for operational reasons.
Current situation:
Before picking (sales order / picking list), only material and quantity are available.
After scanning all units, the delivery is completed and the final document correctly shows the actual scanned batches and BBDs.
Requirement:
Is it possible to:
Print or display informational FEFO data (recommended batch + BBD) on sales order / picking list,
Without assigning or locking the batch in the document,
While still allowing operators to scan any valid unit,
And ensuring that the delivery document printed after picking reflects only the actually scanned serials, batches and BBDs?
In other words, I am looking for a “soft FEFO” / informational batch proposal before picking, and real FEFO confirmation after serial-level scanning, without restricting operational flexibility.
Additional clarification:
FEFO check during scanning can be a warning, not a hard block.
Traceability must remain at serial / unique unit level, not only batch level.
Question:
Is this achievable with standard SAP configuration, or does it require a custom output / enhancement?
If standard is partially possible, which components or settings should be considered (SD / LE, batch determination, output processing)?
Thank you in advance for your insights.
