Hi
With APO being a mainly live cache system, linking a table to azure data factory would not result in the data results we would like. (please correct me if i am wrong)
So we are looking at alternatives to extract large volume data for forecast analysis, master data etc from APO to external tools
2 options i have seen are create a BW environment or run ABAP queries on schedule to network area.
advice?
experience?
any alternatives?
Thanks

I'd say I would confirm your 2 options (BW or ABAP) but my recommendation is data extraction via the build-in BW technology in APO. Most data objects like forecast and master data come with data extractors you can use or you can generate your own as needed. ABAP won't help too much since you need to find a suitable BAPI for the stuff you need and this can become an adventure in case it does not exist (everything is encrypted using GUIDs all over the place). We use ABAP only for "special purpose" then there is no other way (like extracting Interchangeability master data) and feed all data into a BW object in APO (InfoObject, InfoCube, aDSO, DSO etc.) which is then the source for data consumers outside APO. Using the data extraction approach in APO via BW is more or less "plug'n play" and therefore a good starting point. If you have / find a data integration path from SAP BW to AZURE then you can use this path also for APO since it's basically made "based on BW technology".
