Excel file .xslm not working with IBP add-in on

Hi IBP experts,

Having the IBP Excel Add-In activated we cannot open a simple .xslm file

In another word, we have the IBP Excel Add-In activated in Excel, we have a .xslm file stored on a Desktop, we open the file, click on Enable Editing and then Excel close the window with the pop up below.

Has anyone faced this issue, what shall we do? It would not be acceptable for some customers to deactivate their IBP Excel Add-In anytime they want to open a .xslm file for some other purposes.

Just for your information, we have the latest IBP Excel Add-In installed on our machine.

Thank you,

Hi Julien,

I believe this is not the expected behavior, it should open the .xslm file without issues. Have you confirmed that it works normally if the add-in is not enabled in fact? In case positive, which is the current plugin version you have installed? In case is not the latest one, can you try to upgrade your add-in and test again?

Please also feel free to upload the file here in case it does not have confidential information, so we can try to open as well, or you may also try opening in another computer that has Excel and the plugin installed.

Ivan

Thanks Ivan for your prompt reply, it is much appreciated.

Yes it does work fine without the Add-In activated. We should have the latest Add-In: IBPEXCELADDON03_0-70001843

We have tried with several laptops and various .xslm and it does the same thing when the Add-In is on. I will see with my customer if I can forward you the file I tried with.

Hi Ivan,

I believe your email address is the same as every SAP employee: ivan.andreis@sap.com ? I do not really want to upload a customer file on SCN.

Thank you

Same problem here Julien...please can you confirm if this happens for other xlsm files as well? I am suspecting that this is happening because of some specific macro on this file.

Hi Ivan,

I am having a workshop with the customer and they are still experiencing issues with opening xslm files. They tell me these Macro files have been working for ages and now they have the Add-in installed they do not work anymore.

Can you have a look at this if I provide you some new files or shall I open a HIGH message?

Thank you,

Julien

Hi Julien,

I am checking this with the IBP add-in responsible developer.

Will let you know as soon as I have the results, but feel free to raise an incident providing this thread as reference if you want to have it recorded.

Thanks,

Ivan

Hi Julien

I guess that most important is that ou workshop run fine?

the files on your desktop, do you need them together with the AddIn for your workshops?

Maybe you can use seperate sessions of excel to do in one the desktop excel and in the other session the IBP stuff UNTIL your topic is solved,

You can open a second excel session by start -> run -> EXCEL /X. In the one session you disable the macro and run your desktop file, and in the other you leave the AddIn enabled

Ah, and do you use the new VBA-based Templates from OSS note1790530, for which you need to store the file SAP_IBP_Chart.xlam into folder C:\Users\>our_user_id>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns ?

And yes, I would open an OSS message, what I wrote is just an idea how you may save your workshop, nothing to do with solving the topic as I did not encounter your issue yet

Summarize all the information you have provided here including your example in the message, which will help the developer solve your topic

Would be very interested in the final solution, if you could kindly describe it here.

Yours

Hi Irmi,

Yes opening two Excel session is an option but we are close to Go-Live phase and will be final testing the solution next week. I preferred to open an OSS High and support just told me they will be investigating the issue shortly.

Users are having the latest Excel add-in (using the VBA templates version) and even when I tested one of the xlsm file with Ivan the SAP support consultant above, it failed on his computer as well so there is definitely something wrong.

We will see what the Dev team will tell us and will keep you posted.

Thanks

Hi Irmi,

Palo Alto's team is suggesting to run a repair on Office. Seems like some latest version of Office are not that stable. Unfortunately they could not reproduce the same "crash" on their machine.

I will ask the IT group to look into this and hopefully the repair will fix the issue. Will let you know.
