EWM: Replenishment based on the Production Orders

Hi All,

We have a requirement to trigger the replenishment based on the requirements from the production order.

We are using S4 and using PMR in embedded system. Any idea how can I achieve this requirement?

And please note that all items are tagged with single order stanging as we have batch managed material.

Hello harry777,

To trigger replenishment based on production order requirements in S4 with PMR, you can follow these steps:

1. Set up a planning strategy for the materials in question that uses the production order requirements as the basis for replenishment.

2. Create a material master record for the batch-managed material and specify the planning strategy in the MRP view.

3. Create a production order for the material in question.

4. When the production order is created, the material requirements will be recorded in the system.

5. The PMR functionality will automatically trigger the replenishment process based on the material requirements recorded in the system.

6. The system will create either a planned order or a purchase requisition for the material, depending on the set-up of the planning strategy.

7. The planned order or purchase requisition can then be converted into a production order to generate the necessary material for production.

8. The system will track the inventory levels of the material and replenish as needed based on production order requirements.

Overall, using S4 with PMR makes it easier to manage the replenishment process based on production order requirements, tracking inventory levels, and triggering replenishment automatically.

Sorry for being not clear. My requirement is that I want to replenish the stock from GR Zone to another storage type, lets say Storage type A based on the requirements from the production order. Later we do the staging from Storage Type A to the PSA.

Hi Harry,

Could you please check pre allocated stock...

Hi,

as you may have noticed, you question is not really clear - are you talking about EWM at all?

The first answer refers to "replenishment" by getting stock from another location (plant, supplier, etc). So this is not EWM related, that is an MRP process.

The second is about production staging in EWM. That is not called replenishment, but based on the PMR you move the material to bins from where production can take the material.

So maybe you can make clear what you really want to do? Or have you read all the documentation for the advanced production integration (the link ajit.routray.ewm posted)?

All the above is no official SAP statement.

Want to learn EWM?

Check for EWM courses: https://training.sap.com/trainingpath/Applications-Extended+Warehouse+Management-EWM+in+S4HANA

Get a SAP Learning Hub Subscription: https://training.sap.com/learninghub

And it is EWM. NOT eWM - Duh!

And if your question includes the word "transfer order" - do NOT tag the question with Extended Warehouse Management!

Hi Juergen,

Indeed, the question was not totally clear and I agree both of the given answers are not replenishment related. But I do think I understand the requirement, and it is something I have been struggling with too.

What I'm looking for is similar to order-based replenishment, but for PMR items instead of outbound delivery order items. Let's say we have a situation in which we have a full pallet storage type and a picking area storage type. We use rough bin determination in outbound delivery orders to determine whether to pick from full pallet or picking area storage type. Using order-based replenishment we can trigger replenishment from the full pallet storage type to the picking area storage type in case the open requirement exceeds the available stock in the picking area.

We have a similar requirement for PMR items. So in case the stock requirement in PMR items exceeds the available stock in the picking area, we would like to trigger replenishment from the full pallet to the picking area storage type. From there we would need to create staging tasks for the non-full pallet quantity. Does something like this exist? Is it even possible to use rough bin determination in PMR's? It doesn't seem like this exists...

Wow, this is a question from May - is that still open?

"What I'm looking for is similar to order-based replenishment, but for PMR items instead of outbound delivery order items. "

Yeah, for sure that does not work. Why? Because the idea of the PMR is that you ALWAYS stage in the same fixed quantity.

Hi harry777

Could you check please ( Schedule the background job based on your requirement).

  • Schedule staging for production

You can schedule the regular creation of staging warehouse tasks by the system, using the report Schedule Staging for Production. To access this report, on the launchpad for Extended Warehouse Management, choose Work Scheduling Staging for Production Schedule Staging - Production Integration. The system creates warehouse tasks with a quantity equal to the proposed quantity, as long as the system can find the stock in the warehouse.
