EWM QM - two inspection lots for same batch

Hi experts,

need your help here.

we are using S4H 1909 system. As per my understanding, QM inspection types 17 is not needed as we can manage with standard inspection types like 01, 04, etc.

I created a process order for FG. Material has 04 inspection type with Y= early inspection type active. I am getting a lot after releasing the order. i can do result recording and usage decision as usual. However, stock does not move to unrestricted.

Further, I am getting anther lot of type 17 generated upon completing EWM transactions. If I perform usage decision, there is no tab for stock posting. I just save the usage decision and now stock is moved to unrestricted.

I have removed all IOT settings for inspection type 4. So not sure why system is behaving like this. I also checked note 286183, which says "Inspection planning before GR is not supported". Does that mean early inspection lot should not be created if material is received in EWM? I think even if I change that, system will still end up with two lots and hence above issues.

Thanks for your response. I have checked all of these things and they are working fine. some of them like IOT5 are not needed. Also, I observed that if I tick HU management during the inspection type assignment in material master QM view, then it generated two lots. If I remove the tick, then it generated only 1 lot (type 17). This is little difficult to digest as to how HU tick is affecting lot creation.

Hi Amit,

This is standard Functionality of Inspection of HU and would create inspection lot per HU ( Relationship is 1:1, then n number of HUs = n number of inspection lots ).

Example: Business wants to inspect each box/pallet/bag/HU of received quantity So that time inspection of HU would be helpful. Assume received 10 pallets then 10 Inspection lot would be generated.In this case, it would be 11 inspection lots ( 1 Primary lot for PO/Inbound delivery+10 for Pallets/HUs)

My assumption: When you do configure such scenarios, please consider 3 parameters in Master 1> Insp. for HU 2> Control Lot Creation 3> Inspection Lot Summary. Please read SAP documentations and help for more details.

"For the warehouse-dependent inspection object types 4 and 5 you can integrate quality management in Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) without inspection rules. You can define that the inspection setup data of the Quality Management view in the material master is used. No inspection rule is required. In EWM the inspection types 01 (Goods receipt insp. for purchase order), 04 (Goods receipt inspection from production), 08 (Stock transfer inspection) and 09 (Recurring inspection of batches) are supported."Copy text from below link

-> I guess presample activate in IOT4, pre-sampling in Production is still supporting Emebbded S4HANA 1909. If you do not want, then uncheck Presample from IOT4.

6] Inspection planning before GR is not supported. The inspection document can only be created at the time of GR posting, no earlier time-frame is available. (Consider that pre-sampling in Production is a different process.) - Copy texts from OSS 2861813
