Hello experts,
On my current project, we are on S4HANA on premise 05/2020 and S4CORE 105 SP02 with EWM decentralized.
For the physical inventory process, we are using 100% standard functionality to CREATE the documents using both GUI and RF transactions. So far, the whole process starting in the GUI works fine.
However, on the RF, we are using both Creation with immediate count (logical tx IVAHPR) and Creation only without immediate count (logical tx IVAHCR). And the latter has an issue I’m not able to fix.
In EWM RF menu 05 Internal process > 01 Inventory counting > 03 Adhoc Inv. Creation :
The type of document depends on the entry :
If you wonder where I got that information, I went through debug. And that makes sense.
I should add that on that project, decision was made to NOT block storage bins with an active inventory document.
I believe the 01 number range comes from the Physical Inventory-specific settings in warehouse:
The only entry I know for number range in the SPRO is for object /SCWM/PIDO. So I created a number range 01 in tx SNRO for object /SCWM/IPON. I was not sure whether it should be the same or a different number range from object PIDO, but regardless, it doesn’t make any difference for the next issue. I could not find any documentation on that number range object, and it’s the first time a client wants to use that function.
2. Document created with unusual characteristics: the real issue is that after creating the corresponding number range, the system does create something that looks like a PI document with a number 0 at a status IPO :
I can’t find any relevant document in the monitor. However, the table /LIME/PI_DOC_IT was populated :
On this screenshot, 3 entries are highlighted :
Has anyone come accross the same issue ? Do you have any suggestion as to what to check or what configuration to complete ? If you think of anything I may have missed, feel free to share !
Thank you !
Jihane

Update:
SAP issued note 3269908 to have a message on the screen. It does not solve the issue, does not avoid it and does not explain why the program is looking for number range object /SCWM/IPON instead of /SCWM/PIDO.
We'll use a workaround and create a reason code that activates the PI document upon creation.

Update:
I opened a message to SAP and it look like this option is only valid if PI documents are active upon creation.
As to the number range object and how to keep users from selecting a reason code assigned to an inactive document, there is no answer or explanation as of today.
