"An MRP area assigned to a material which is marked as Advanced Planning relevant is also automatically classified as Advanced Planning relevant.

It is not possible to phase out a single MRP area from PP/DS Planning by changing the planning status to Marked for deactivation. An MRP area can only have the Marked for Deletion status.

To do this, you can select the deletion indicator on the header screen area for MRP data maintenance in material master data.

This indicator can only be set after the MRP area has got a planning status Marked for deactivation assigned on the Advanced Planning tab and the Where-Used-Check (WUC) functionality has determined that the MRP area is not used anymore in any PP/DS planning object. If no references are found, the deletion indicator field checkbox can be selected. This WUC functionality can be triggered from the MRP Maintenance UI screens in the material master data maintenance.

Set Deletion Indicator for MRP areas

To set the deletion indicator for an MRP area assigned to a material with Advanced Planning indicator, proceed with the following steps:

1. Call up the MM02 transaction for the material in plant to which the MRP area is assigned.

2. Choose MRP1 tab to view the MRP area maintenance screen.

3. Select the Advanced Planning tab and swap the planning status from Active for Planning to Marked for Deactivation. Choose Save to save your changes.

4. Call up MM02 transaction again and navigate to the MRP area maintenance screens.

5. Choose the Advanced Planning tab and choose the Where-Used Check button to trigger the reference check. (If the system finds an object where the product or location is being used, then it will not allow you to set the deletion indicator)

6. If you find references to any object, use the report /SAPAPO/PPDS_PPSKZ_RESET to get details about the references and remove them from the system.

7. If there are no references found, you can set the deletion indicator that is enabled on the header area of the MRP area data maintenance UI screen.

8. Choose Save.
   
   

Phase Out Material and MRP Areas from PP/DS Planning

Setting the deletion indicator at the MRP area level does not remove the location or product from PP/DS. You must perform the following steps at the material or plant level to remove the Advanced Planning indicator from a single material with all assigned MRP areas in a plant:

1. Call up transaction MM02 for material in plant. Select Advanced Planning tab and swap planning status from Active for Planning to Marked for deactivation. Save your changes.

2. Choose MRP1 tab to view the MRP area maintenance screen.

3. Select the Advanced Planning tab and swap the planning status from Active for Planningto Marked for Deactivation. Choose Save to save your changes.

4. Call up MM02 transaction again and navigate to the Advanced Planning tab.

5. Choose the Where-Used Check button to trigger the reference check. (If the system finds an object where the product or location is being used, it will not allow you to remove the Advanced Planning indicator)

6. If you find references to any object, use the report /SAPAPO/PPDS_PPSKZ_RESET to get details about the references and remove them from the system.

7. If there are no references found, you can remove the Advanced Planning indicator.

8. Choose Save."
