Direct integration between TM and EWM in S4

We are working in S4 release 2021 with TM and EWM in the same system. This blog from 2018 says the following:

• Direct integration between embedded TM and EWM still needs to be established through Web service as of 1709 release. SAP will take 1 or 2 years (as per present road map) for seamless integration between embedded TM and EWM within S/4HANA and hence Web service is the option for customers going live with 1709 and 1808 releases.

Is it still the case that web service integration using either PI or SOAMANAGER is required for TM/EWM integration for the 2021 release? For example, creating TUs.

Hi Michael,

The TU based Integration hasn’t changed in that regard, however given that you are running the complete suite(also core logistics) on S/4 you should look into the new advanced shipping and receiving which was first released with S/4 2020. It offers a more direct integration between TM and EWM and much more.
