Different serial requirements in different warehoses for the same material.

Hello,

We have a material which we want to serialise in one warehouse but not in another warehouse. We have EWM 9.4 system and not HANA yet.

I would like to understand can this be achieved or do I always need to serialise it for all the warehouses.

When I assign serialisation profile in the product master view "storage data" for one warehouse, it automatically appears for another warehouse storage data view making it compulsory to serialise.

I am aware that in the configuration we can maintain WH independent as well as dependent profiles. However, in product master, profile field is not in the warehouse dependent view which forces it to apply for all the warehouses.

We do not maintain serial number at inventory level but at warehouse level 'B' only. We have around 55 WH worldwide.

No, it doesn't. The field is on product level. And I hope you do not maintain this in the warehouse product, because you should not maintain any data in warehouse product on any of the tabs which has this hat icon. All this data is non-warehouse specific.

The profile is maintained in the ERP material master, and it is warehouse independent. That's why you have the option to define in EWM customizing the same profile twice - one time generic, and one time warehouse specific.
