Difference between Put away strategy and Put away rule

Hello Experts,

For setting up a put away strategy, we make use of settings on following fields on storage type

- Storage behavior

- Put away rules

- WT generic

Put away rule is selected in following configuration path

SPRO - SCM Extended warehouse management - Extended warehouse management - Goods receipt process - Strategies - Storage type search - Specify storage type search sequence for put away

What is difference between these two concepts ?

To deploy a specific put away strategy, do we need to make use of both?

If yes, can you please explain with example of put away strategy: Addition to existing stock/Empty bin

According to my knowledge, choosing a putaway rule is one of the steps in the configuration of putaway strategy. Here you can find putaway strategies supported by SAP:

Answering your second question: Addition to existing stock/Empty bin is one of the putaway rules, not strategies and you can find it used in 4 of the strategies from the link above.
