Demand Driven MRP (DDMRP):Create consumption data question

Hi Experts,

I would like to ask: for a customer who has newly implemented SAP and wants to use the DDRMRP , is it possible to directly maintain historical daily consumption data? I tried to maintain the consumption data in the Forecasting view of the material master, but when I run the schedule production classification, the system still notifies me that there is no consumption data ,  Is it necessary to have actual delivery records before DDRMRP can be used?

Hi @lannew90

Did you maintain the following transactional data:

  • Goods Issue data for ADU calculation and/or

  • Planned Independent Requirement for ADU calculation

Maybe you also check customizing one more time for:

  • Buffer Profile

  • ADU Exclude Movement types

I assume the transactional data is the issue, but let me know if it works.

Best regards, Markus

Thank you for your reply. DDRMRP works properly when there is transactional data. However, since the customer has just started using SAP and there is no transactional data yet, we are wondering if there is a way to input historical data so that DDRMRP can operate based on it. I tried maintaining historical data in the Forecasting view of the material master, but it does not seem to have any effect. Does this mean that the customer must use SAP for a period of time before DDRMRP can be implemented? Best regards Lance

@lannew90 - Hi Lance, coming back to your question. This is a tricky one and we have to look internally if we cannot provide a better solution as the historical GI data is not available in the sense you need it. What you could try is to use extension point Buffer Level Zone Update (DD_BUFFERLEVELZONE) to see if you can extent and put the GI info there? Br, Markus

Dear @Markus_Oertelt

Any news on this topic? Same issue with  a customer new in SAP S/4 private edition.

Want to use DD-MRP but no historical transactional data exists. Loading consumptions values in the Material Master as @lannew90 commented has no effects.

To use the Badi and do the calculation by itself is not an option as expected to use one of the core functionalities (buffer level calculation) from SAP using is internal formulas.

Any additional information will be very welcome. Thanks in advance.
