Using purge KF option we were able to delete obsolete planning objects. Other than manually deleting the obsolete master data combinations, is there a better way to delete these obsolete master data combinations from MDT

Hi Jeff,

You can delete records from simple master data types which deletes all combinations associated with that record. However, it is not a very controlled way of deleting planning objects as some desired combinations as well gets deleted in the process. You can refer to this blogpost to get more insights.

Hi Jeff,

Deleting planning object/combinations using purge jobs is the most systematic and controlled way. If you also want to delete that combination from relevant MDT, similar to Purge KF job, there is another job - Purge Master Data. In this job, you can specify the MDT (customer source in your case) and apply the same planning filter created for purging KF. This will remove the combination from that MDT.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Piyush,

I gone through your blog. I appreciate your blog. As we need to delete specific combinations ( prod x Loc x Customer), we are using purging KF option and deleting the planning objects. As that job doesn't clear those combinations in MDT, do we need to clear them manually or is there any better way to handle it?
