We are currently implementing a TM9.5 system connected to ECC, using the shipper scenario. Here we also integrate EHS Dangerous Goods management for identifying DG products, calculating ADR points and of course to be able to generate documents that correctly state the DG phrases. Here is where my question comes in:
In ECC you could use "text patterns" with text symbols to "build" a complete DG phrase, with numbers, weights, UN codes etc. This works in conjunction with SAPSCRIPT or Smartforms.
What is the TM or EWM equivalent of text patterns and how do they integrate with Adobe forms? I am explicitly mentioning EWM because they share the same layer for exchanging DG data and I expect them to have the same way of working.
Request clarification before answering.
Hello
regarding: "What is the TM or EWM equivalent of text patterns and how do they integrate with Adobe forms?"
To my knowledge: there is no equivalent Your statement "In ECC you could use "text patterns" with text symbols to "build" a complete DG phrase, with numbers, weights, UN codes etc. This works in conjunction with SAPSCRIPT or Smartforms." is 100% correct
Currently: for EHS classic: i am not aware of any integration option to "Adobe forms"; Current status is (according to my knowledge): for EHS / DG integration for "document" handling: SAPSCRIPT etc. is currently the only option.

PS: in a "nutshell". If you use a "ECC" system (in which you maintain DG related information) you must prepare an ALE to a "TM" related system to distribute the DG information using ALE. In this TM system you must prepare basic EHS set up (Phrases; DG etc.) you that you can print DG data on documents

Hello Christoph,
Thank you for your clear answer. Sadly you confirmed what I had expected. In that case I am afraid we will have to do with custom development.
Kind regards,
Sjaak

For "S/4 HANA": SAP is delivering a new solution of EHS with S/4 HANA. PLease check the roadmap of the new solution Called "Product Compliance". This new solution is a complete new solution and can not be compared to EHS classic.
Check e.g. https://blogs.sap.com/2020/11/04/highlights-for-product-compliance-in-sap-s-4hana-2020-part-1-produc... and similar documents (there are two more documents)
Please check the "Product Explorer" of SAP. Here you will see the Roadmaps of TM / eWM Integration of the new solution as well.
In a nutshell: if you plan to move to S/4 HANA soon (in e.g. three years) you should check now if you would like really to use a "customer" specific solution and not use SAP standard...

Hi Christoph,
Thank you for your answer. I checked the links you sent me. In the customizing of TM (SCM basis, actually, which is the shared layer of functionality with EWM) we have investigated the customizing for output on DG in more detail. This configuration holds a large number of user exits/function modules that seem to integrate with the document setup in TM. If we find anything useful, I will keep you posted.
Kind regards,
Sjaak
