Create New (Simple Copy) of Planning Area: planning area — attribute associations are copied or not?

The following is a screenshot from the learning material of IBP 300 (Advanced Configuration in SAP IBP). It can be found in the handbook, page 55 (heading 'Create New (formerly Simple Copy)'):

It claims the following:

  • Simple copy allows you to create a new planning area by copying the following data: "Planning area — attribute associations".
  • Attributes associated with a planning area are not copied.

This seems like a contradiction? What is the difference between the two please? Any clarification would be most welcome.

Dear Vincent,

  • Simple copy allows you to create a new planning area by copying the following data: "Planning area — attribute associations".
It means only the association/assignment between the attribute and planning areas is copied.
  • Attributes associated with a planning area are not copied.
It means that the attributes themselves are not copied.

Hope above helps.

Best regards,
Gabby
