Hello Team,
Does anybody have any idea on copying planning area with different level time profile. Like we have all standard planning area with Monthly time bucket, can we copy these planning area with daily time bucket profile. I couldn't find a way..
Please let me know if somebody has tried this successfully.
Help is much appreciated....
Thanks in anticipation 🙂

Dinesh Goyal

Did not test fully, but what should work:
1) Create new time profile
2) make copy of planning area to new name, but without changing the time profile yet
DO NOT ACTIVATE yet
3) Exchange in the planning area the time profile, the storage level and the planning horizon
Save
4) Now comes the biggest part: Adjust / check all your plannig levels one by one
5) activate planning area
6) load the new time profile from csv-file
From my perspective, the reason why fully assisted copy can not work with different storage levels is, that : How can the system know, whether your planning level should still have the months as lowest level or shall have weeks? You might have some levels only on quartely level in your source planning area
I just tried it until step 4:: System did adjust the root in the planning level automatically and added the days into the planning levels and removed all levels that I had removed fronm the new buckets.
Step 5 to activate will fail if you dont adjust your PERIODID's (both KF and planning level if you work with shifting of periods)
Make sure you delete YEARS from the new level and only keep months and days, maybe weeks if necessary. I guess you would run into trouble if you keep the years as you cannot enter parts of a year into the definition, and daily buckets should not go along with more than maybe 2 or 3 months
Be aware that there is no copy operator between twpo different planning levels!!!
If you want to exchange data between the two, you currently need to download and upload again
As you can not load data on an aggregated level yet, and on the other hand data are always stored on the lowest level of time, I am not sure if the following would work (please provide feedback if successful):
1) create one planning level in your target in which you only have the months ,upload into that
2) have the "real" level with the days, using split factor based on the aggregated level from step 1
You would need to provide any information to how it shall be split, so you either take "proportionally" or you create a new disaggregatoin KF in which you maintain your split from months to weeks manually / load from file (e.g. 1-1-1-1-1-0-0)
For "normal" hierarchical aggregation it does work, for timebased aggregation I am curious for your feedback if the idea will work
In general, the system does use the same disaggregation logic for the timebased disaggregatoin than it uses for the hierarchical one, which might not always be the best
There was a chat some days ago regarding a question whether that oculd be seperated, would be worth to search for it
Good luck!
