Hi Experts,
when I check a storage resource in the capacity view the key figure "Capacity Consumption" (9ACACON) is displayed.
Could anybody please explain how is this key figure calculated?
This does not take place in a macro - I think this is related to the assigned key figure function done in the planning area customizing. The key figure "quantity stored" (9ASTOCK) has the key figure function "6007 Storage Quantity with Resource Consumption". Therefore the amount stored in this key figure (and other key figures with the function 6007 assigned) consumes the capacity.
I want to check capacity consumption of the projected stock in the future which is only calculated in auxiliary key figure u201CStock on Hand (Projected)u201D. This key figure has also function 6007 assigned.
So I assume that
a) the calculation of capacity consumption takes place by the key figure function - How specifically?
b) if I create a new (non auxiliary) key figure where the projected stock is stored in the consumption is correctly calculated?
Looking forward to your answers!
Julian
Request clarification before answering.
Implement SAP note which is available according to your SCM version, for example : SAP Note 1855160 - Capacity view: wrong values for 'Quantity Stored' keyfigure

Hi gents,
I have the same questions related to storage capacity planning book.
Currently 9ASTOCK_Quantity Stored does not consider the block stock category.
Pls., advice what to be done to get it there?
Thank you in advance, Nazar

Hi Julian,
Its my understanding about the capacity consumption, is:
Since heuristic is not based on capacity constraints, where it assumes the infinate capacity it is reqired to run the Capacity check after the heuristic run.
SAP is provided a standard planning book for capacity check, which is the best suitalble for capacity check. In this planning book we run the capacity leveling by clicking the capacity leveling buttion on the tool bar.
During the capacity check run, it will check for forward and backward schedule and confirms the capacity. the out come of run is stored in "Capacity Consumption".
With a example: SNP heuristic run generated 120 90 70 110 as the planned orders for continous weeks, and we have the capacity as 100 per week, whcih will be maintained in the resource master data of APO.
During the Capacity leveling, will adjust he orders to the avaialble capacity as 100 100 80 100 .... this depends on what techniq we have selected for capacity leveling...
Hope this information will help you

Hi Yarala,
thanks for your answer but unfortunately it is not applicable here...
In my special case here I cannot perform the capacity leveling as this is neither possible for storage capacities nor it fits for my process. I only want to see the percentage of consumted storage capacity.
I perform a heuristic run and afterwards I check the storage capacity in the standard view. And the key figure capacity consumption takes only distribution reciepts into account - and not the projected stock.
Example:
I II III IV
forecast 50 50 50 50
stock (projected) 100 50 100 50
Dist. receipt 100 0 100 0
capacity consumption 100 0 100 0
But the capacity consumption should take not only the receipts but also the projected stock into account...
Cheers,
Julian
Hi Julian,
As far as I am aware the capacity consumption for storage capacity is not based on projected stock but on the orders (coming in, or coming out).
Only the initial stock is consider.
So it does not seems to be linked to your new proected stock key figure.
Your example is strange...
Do you get a proper capacity consumption from the standard SAP view?
If yes, what have you change compare to the standard view?
Could you also check:
1. if your storage resource is a bucket on, with category S?
2. How your system behave with other order types (e.g ditribution demand, production...)
3. The field "Storage Cons.per BUn" is the product master (Gr/GI tab)
Else there is a couple of notes that might help but...
1051632
903739
1122353
1106699
1102789
1237759
Which APO version are you using actually?
good luck
Julien
Hi Julien,
Completely correct - the capacity consumption for storage capacity is not based on projected stock but on the receipts.
So far, so good.
In the planning view (see in planning view customizing!!) you have two key figures
- the initial stock
- the projected stock (this is only a auxiliary key figure)
What you see in the normal standard planning view is the only the projected stock key figure as "STOCK on Hand".
This is calculated by taking the last period's stock plus receipts minus demand.
And I want to compare the exactly this projected stock against my capacities and not only receipts and initial stock.
This way I see, that a calculated distribution demand maybe in 10 weeks would not fit to my storage capacities.
Cheers,
Julian
PS:
1. storage resource is a bucket on, with category S? --> yes
2. How your system behave with other order types (e.g ditribution demand, production...) --> OK
3. The field "Storage Cons.per BUn" is the product master (Gr/GI tab) --> *it is maintained, otherwise no capacity consumption at all would be calculated"
And I am using SCM 7.0 - but this context hasn't changed since 5.0 or 5.1...
Hi julian,
let me rephrase what I said above:
When I say:"the capacity consumption for storage capacity is not based on projected stock but on the orders": I mean:
The capacitiy consumption calculation is not based on the proejcted stock key figure.Instead the storage quantity is calculated based on initial stock, receipt AND demand.
This should give the same result, but what I meant is: I don't think that the changes you have done for the projected stock have any impact on the storage capacity consumption.
In you case it looks like the result is based only on receipt as you mentioned, but to be honest even that look wrong (something arriving on day x should consume the storage untill it is removed and send somewhere else, and not only on the date of arrival)
Note the standard data view 9ASNP94/SNP94(2) - the capacity view- does NOT contain the projected stock key figure.
What you want to see is correct: in standard it should work! (except that it is not based on the projected stock key figure itself, but it is recaculated...)
Did you check if the standard view 9ASNP94/SNP94(2) was showing the right result?
I asked you:" How your system behave with other order types (e.g ditribution demand, production...) "
I meant: when you have a distribution demand, is your capacity consumption reduced?
Thanks and Regards
Julien
