Confusion of planning result about Inventory component

Dear expert,

I have 2 question when I was checking the planning result of Inventory component:

1, Do we need extract sales order quantity from SAP to calculate all kinds of stock(like cycle stock/pipeline stock )?
2, Do we need extract initial stock from SAP? Will the stock on hand affect "target inventory position"?

Hello Sophia,

in case you are dealing with inventory optimization then you don't need extract open sales order qty. You just need to use historical time-series data which can be either actual sold qty or ordered qty by customers. This historical sales data will be then compared with historical demand forecasts (they are also needs to be loaded).

In IO you do not need initial inventory for calculation.
