Components Batch traceability inside FG Batch based on "event"

Hello,

I am not SAP expert so excuse my poor explanation skill.. I would like to verify with you if following scenario is possible to cover by SAPA1.

In a discrete PP, we have a forming operation as first operation in Routing. Forming uses raw material with material ID, qty and batch number stored in hoppers set as separate storage location. We produce FG in batches. The batch for given formed semi-products remains same as long as there is no change in raw material batch number, e.g.:

1) we have 5 hoppers consisting different RM ID and batch number

2) at start of production, we form semi-products and batch them, MES will report to SAP material ID and qty to have backflush based on FIFO from hoppers.

3) when one of the RM in one of the hopper run out, we load a new RM with new batch number.

= and here we expect to have new batch for semi-product regardless of relation to production order based on that "event" of changing material in hopper.

When we complete FG, we expect to be able backtrack from FG which RM batches have been used.

Our consultant is proposing 1:1 batch relation to the production order, which will not deliver result we expect. I searched through SAP forum and help and see indications this could be possible... but I have no experience with it. I would be glad if anyone could explain in plain english 🙂 confirm that our scenario is possible or not. Thanks!
