Hi all,
It looks like currently in SAP Public Cloud 2408, the only way to assign a user to a new printer is through OPD. This poses issues as many clients want to be able to change their printer assignment in a mobile transaction.
Additionally, there are no API's released that allow the change the assignment of a print queue to printer. Meaning, we cannot develop our own application.
In EWM 2023 FPS01, there has a been a release to allow the change of a printer (see link below) in RF. By going to Resource Management, a new field of '03 Printer' has been added.
Unfortunately, it seems in Public Cloud there is no available option for this. In OPD, we can assign a resource to a user's print queue. This print queue can then be assigned to a specific printer. Linking a resource to a mobile printer. However, we would also like to utilize the ability of assigning warehouse orders to pickers (resources) and not the resource itself. In addition, there is no ability to add resource group as a context data object in OPD.
So simply, my question is. Is there any other way of doing this?
Request clarification before answering.
Hi mconstanzo
As you know, the printing concept in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition is different than in legacy and onprem solutions.
We now have custom field support for several Warehouse objects.
Output Parameter Determination also now allows custom fields to be used in the determination logic.
Perhaps you could define a custom field on the task or order and utilize Personas (or Adapt UI) to adapt the UI to allow picking the value for the custom field from a code list for example. (I know RF UIs can be modified with AdaptUI/Personas).
Then us that custom field in OPD to pick the output Queue? We have done something similar for printing at a customer using the "active user"
Please investigate if any of the developer extensibility scenarios could be used.

Thank you
