I am wondering if SAP APO PPDS capabilities are a fit for ETO (engineer to order) where projects (SAP PS) is the source for generating the requirements for manufacturing.
So, from this perspective, I would say that the critical aspect is not only the long lead time items, but also (very important) the available capacity for engineering - first, and then, the shop floor.
The not-so-clear area is the forecasting to demand process as well.
