Business Partner and SCU in SAP EWM

Hello Guys,

In SCMB/SCUMAIN as well as BP, we are assigning the business partner roles and address, yeah for sure there are more settings in BP like identification , status and control.

Could you please let me know the reason why we need both SCU as well as BP.

I know SCU is the role that warehouse is acting ,in a EWM environment. But again here also we are assigning BP role as vendor or Customer.

In BP also we are assigning the BP role as Vendor or Customer.

Thanks in Advance.

Hello Elan,

Supply chain Unit is Physical or organizational unit that is used within a logistical process in a
specific business attribute.

Examples of organizational units are:Goods receipt office or Shipping office .

Whereas Plant,Customer,Vendor when moved to EWM they became BP.

BP role as customer or vendor depends on the operation you do for that BP.

For example Plant number has to be assigned both customer and vendor role as both purchasing and sales activity is done for that Plant Number.

For customers you have to assign just  customer roles and same for vendors.

Hi Elan,

In addition to Olet's inputs, the warehouse which is created in EWM does not have its own address, when your plant is transferred from ECC to SCWM system it creates a location and SCU by default and that plant's created SCU is assigned to EWM warehouse to provide the physical address to the warehouse. A warehouse generally will be located at the same location as plant

We also have business partners Customer/Vendor which are linked to plant so the BP-vendor with plant assignment will be assigned and it will work as Default Party Entitled to Dispose. Same with customer for default Ship-to Party linkage.
