Bom changes to IBP system

Hello Experts,

Can we transfer the BOM changes from S/4 HANA to IBP system ? Since in S/4 HANA system we have a possibility to maintain varying BOMs( BOM components with different validity dates),wanted to understand as how the same could be managed in IBP system since this would have an influence on IO module.

Thanks,

Praveen

I believe yes, we can transfer BOM components with different validity dates to IBP. Even we can transfer the changes referencing to ECN is n S4. There is separate master data in IBP which is Production Source Item Validity. This MD should be updated via CPI.

Hello Neeraj,

Thank you very much for your quick response. What is the "version " in the production source item validity denote ? Is it related to production version of S/4 HANA by any chance.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

It is possible to transfer BOM changes from S/4HANA to IBP system and this feature is available as of 2008 release.

ou can use this feature to define dates from which and up to which components are valid for production. For this purpose, we provide the new master data type Production Source Item Validity (PRODUCTIONSOURCEITMVALIDITY), where you can maintain components, valid-from-dates, and valid-to-dates in the respective attributes.

Component validity is respected by the following time-series-based supply planning algorithms:

  • Optimizer
  • Heuristic (infinite without shortage)
  • Finite heuristic
  • Shelf life planning heuristic
  • Supply propagation heuristic. Note that since SAP IBP for Supply Chain 2005, this heuristic is no longer available for customers on newly installed SAP IBP systems.

Several valid periods can be defined for a component. For example, a component can be valid from January to April and then from September to November. During the periods in between, the component is invalid. When a component is invalid, the production can be planned as usual, but it does not consume the component.

Please check the SAP help for more details Production Source Item Validity

Hello Neeraj,

The version has got no relevance to "production version " of S/4 HANA.I just went forward by using "Base Version" as entry and the system was working the way i expected. Thanks for your efforts.

Please double check. I don't see any version in the production source item validity.
