Batch Generation at the Time of Goods Receipt (Batch Management at the Material Level)

In the material master, there are two fields: Batch Management and Batch Management (Plant).
If only Batch Management is checked, and Batch Management (Plant) is not, then you cannot specify a batch when trying to post a goods receipt.

If only Batch Management is checked, and Batch Management (Plant) is not, then the material is not batch managed in the plant. Thus, you can't specify a batch during goods receipt.
