Automatic Planning with Technician-Specific Starting Locations and Fixed Work

Hello everyone,

We are setting up automatic planning in SAP FSM, and I would like to ask if anyone has experience or a solution for handling the following scenarios:

  1. Technician’s Starting Location Changes Within the Month

    • For example, a technician starts work from home for the first 20 days of the month but then switches to another address (e.g., a girlfriend’s place) for the remaining days.
    • Can SAP FSM’s automatic planning accommodate such changes dynamically? I was thinking about using UDO but according to the documentation's limitation, it's not possible
  2. Fixed Work Areas on Specific Days of the Week

    • Some technicians have predefined fixed locations on certain weekdays.
    • Example:
      • Monday: Only working in the town Prague
      • Tuesday: Only working in the town Brno
    • How can we set up automatic planning so that jobs are scheduled according to these predefined regional preferences per weekday?

We have a large batch of tickets at the beginning of each month and need to plan them as efficiently as possible for the upcoming month. Any insights, best practices, or configuration recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for any input.

Filip

HI Filip,

Thanks for posting your question.
For the first point one possible solution could be adding exclusive reservations with the specific locations which are different from the technicians home-location on the days the technician starts work from a different place.

The second question could be solved using a combination of rules leveraging Regions, matching UDFs and "Day of week" to only schedule specific activities from e.g. Prague on Mondays.

Best Regards
Nicolas
