Hi
is there a way to schedule the empty hu deletion in the background as a job or something
do we have a report in ewm for the same so that a variant could be constructed and used via sm36 for the automatic handling unit deletion ?
if there any reports likewise , please let me know as my customer wants handling unit deletion to be scheduled as the back ground job and doesnot want it to be done manually via the monitor transaction
Request clarification before answering.
I'm getting the same error when I try to open the note. However, in case my experience helps:
Best practice is to setup the packaging material type for automatic deletion once the HU is empty. You do this in SPRO. However, this could not solve all cases, so you could still have some empty HUs in your warehouse as part of some processes. For example, if you empty a HU with a product WT while there is an open HU WT, the HU will remain in the system empty. In this case, it is a good idea to delete them periodically. As far as I know there is no report for that that can run in the background, so you will have to have one developed ad hoc if your customer wants to have this happening automatically in the background. Any ABAPer can figure out how to do it just by re-ingeneering the monitor method into a standalone report. I would advice to design the report with warehouse number, storage type and storage bin as selection parameters and with a parameter for the maximum number of HUs per commit, to prevent problems in case of high number of empty HUs.

Hi Thilak,
have a look at support note "1081145 - Deleting empty handling units that are not used".
There you will find what you are looking for.
