Automatic generation of packaging material line item in S4 HANA 1610 embedded EWM

Hello,

I am trying to replicate a scenario where the packaging material appears as a sub-line item in ERP outbound delivery after goods issue is posted from EWM.

I have followed the steps outlined in this SAP document - https://help.sap.com/saphelp_ewm93/helpdata/en/37/9b1052bfd79933e10000000a44538d/frameset.htm

However, I get a run-time error due to execution timeout in program SAPLSENA when goods issue is posted.

I need to confirm if I am doing the following steps wrongly -

1. Warehouse process type determination for the packaging items - WPT 2010 has been setup in determination. However, since picking is not relevant for the item type corresponding to packaging material, it WPT determination required?

2. Goods movement bin determination, for example, fixed bin assignment - Which bin determination type and storage bin for GM posting should be used?

Also, are any additional steps necessary apart from the ones highlighted in the SAP document shared in the link above?

...why would you want to see it as a sub-item? What would you expect then if multiple lines are packed into the same HU? Where should the sub-item be shown?

I think standard will always create as separate items on same level.

The sub-item should appear in the ERP delivery showing the packaging material used for packing, with the material packed appearing as the main item.

The reason for having it as a sub-item is to have consistency between IM managed and EWM managed locations. For IM managed locations, generation of packaging material line is configured at a sub-item level.

There will only be single packaging material used in this scenario.

I have been able to replicate the scenario now. The GM Bin is needed, otherwise the system throws an error during GI. I do believe that the WPT is not required, although I do have one assigned. I will try to remove it and see if it has any impact.

The problem that I am facing now is that packaging material appears as a new line item in EWM and subsequently gets transferred to the ERP delivery as a new line item. The requirement is to have it as a sub-line item in the ERP delivery. Any idea on how this maybe achieved?

However, since picking is not relevant for the item type corresponding to packaging material, it WPT determination required?" - WPT is not required for Packaging item and also not for good issue ( goods issue warehouse task document ).But it would be better to maintain different WPT for tracking and reporting purpose ( item type OPHU ).Good Movement bin can be determined from WPT.

Goods movement bin determination, for example, fixed bin assignment - Which bin determination type and storage bin for GM posting should be used?" -> I believe it is not mandatory to maintain GM bin if you use different WPT and already maintained the GM Bin there. storage bin-> It is a GM Bin so storage type assigned to that bin must be good issue check ( Please check in storage type settings ).bin determination type-> Sorry, may need to check in my system.

The link has already mentioned prerequisites and process.
