Automatic Backflush in EWM after staging the components S4 1909

Hello All,

We are implementing the S4 1909 and we would like to know the automatic backflush is supported in Embedded EWM 1909

Process steps are below:

Create the Product order, release the production order, PMR gets created, staging the components(WT created), confirming the components(WT confirmed)

At this stage without manually doing the confirmation, customer requirement to post the consumption based on backflush indicator automatically after staging task the confirmed.

Kindly letme know is it possible?

if possible, what are the settings required to be maintained in EWM system for this to work?

If not possible as a last option, can we use delivery based staging in Embedded in EWM 1909, where we have automatic backflush feature is available? or any challenges in using delivery based in Embedded system?

Kindly suggest.

Thanks,

Hari.

Hello,

As far as I know, Auto backflush will not get triggered after WT confirmation.

Consumption is not warehouse thing, it is production stuff and thats why SAP has given NWBC tools for consumption, not in RFUI.

You can do below work around.

1) For Advanced Production integration, you can hybridize the consumption process with backflush using OPC consumption delivery posting which directly updates PMR. However, this is restricted only for Cross order staging not Single order staging. So, you cannot use backflush for single order staging if you configure below

2) Backflush from EWM. This issue is raised at SAP customer influence program and still no relevant notes have been released for conducting backflush from EWM for advanced production integration.

3) Even in embedded EWM, you cannot conduct auto backflush after WT confirmation.

Also for me, it doesn't not make any business sense to consume immediately after staging. Staging is conducted to push the BOM components to PSA so that relevant production can start. Final products have certain lead time of production, once they are ready, then Consumption 261 and Production 101 should happen simultaneously. This is to keep Factory physics in sync with SAP.

And this is definition of backflush also. You postpone your consumption till your final product is ready.

Thanks for your quick reply.

Yes Shailesh, I do agree with this, but I cant explain you the whole business reason why they want to use this option, but they asked for it and the production integration can be delivery based on non delivery it does not matter(Version 1909Embedded).

I never worked on delivery based integration, it would really helpful for me if you can share me the configuration steps needed for delivery based. End to end I will try to setup in demo system and showcase to the client.

Thanks,

Hari.

Hi hari_y11,

"In worse case if backflush does not work, then we need to decide the delivery based scenario for using the backflush automatically."

Clarification:

-> It would be delivery based only( reason is Backflush triggers when operation/GR production completed in ERP so Delivery would generate in ERP and distribute to EWM If I am not wrong.)

-> Delivery must not picking relevent and auto GI has to set up for these delivery types. Please check sap help links (BC sets provided)

-> PPF triggers for Auto GI, then either schedule the job as per convenient or convert this PPF to execution mode in QRFC in stead of TRFC (background job also schedule for process queue) so error would visible if no stock.

-> There are BADIs too for manipulation.

Note: my understanding is backflush does not depend on types of staging.

Kind Regards,

Ajit

Hi hari_y11,

My understanding: this is possible.

"At this stage without manually doing the confirmation, customer requirement to post the consumption based on backflush indicator automatically after staging task the confirmed."- > Option: 1- Change the Auto GI PPF as error state so you can schedule the background job for PPF to execute Option 2: change the PPF to execute in Queue RFC instead of Transaction RFC so Queue stuck if no stock in Bin, but once stock arrive via confirmation of staging tasks, then Stuck queue would process automatically.

Thanks a lot Ajit, I will try to look into both the options you suggested. In worse case if backflush does not work, then we need to decide the delivery based scenario for using the backflush automatically.

hari.
