Hello SAP gurus,
I'm wondering, are there different versions of the embedded EWM like the versions of the decentralized EWM? e.g.:
- EWM 7.02 (2011)
- EWM 9.0 (2013)
- EWM 9.5 (2017)
If yes, how to find out which embedded EWM version is installed on my SAP S/4HANA system?
Thanks in advance.
Request clarification before answering.
Dear Nour,
The EWM version in embedded S/4HANA version is equal to the S/4HANA core version. So

Dear Nour,
Sometimes yes, e.g. the quality inspections or the integration with Transportation Management can differ if they are embedded. There are some restriction/consulting Notes and sometimes the code correction Notes also contain information in the header part that tells a Note is relevant only for embedded etc. As far as I know there is no document that would focus explicitly on the differences between embedded and decentral versions.
Best regards,
Eszter
Hi,
sorry that I have to contradict my colleague (but SAP is huge, and there is possibility to know everything), but there are documents which explain the differences between embedded and decentral versions (but no always very detailed). For example the note "3080907 - Release information and restrictions of Decentralized EWM on SAP S/4HANA 2021" includes a paragraph "Conceptual Differences of Decentralized EWM on SAP S/4HANA compared to embedded EWM in SAP S/4HANA" - which refers to the document attached to the note where the differences between EWM9.5/embedded EWM/decentral EWM based on S/4HANA are described.
And of course embedded EWM moves forward with each S/4HANA release, the new features are described in the "what's new" documentation for each release.

And it is EWM. NOT eWM - Duh!
And if your question includes the word "transfer order" - do NOT tag the question with Extended Warehouse Management!
