APO Planning in PPDS for Alternate Items on BOM

Hello Experts,

Help documentation suggests that the planning for Alternate Items on the BOM is not supported in APO-PPDS.

Question: How would PPDS handle the Alternate Items on BOM scenario? We want to use the Alt BOM Items on the basis of their availability.

Example:

Product A;

Comp 1= B, (priority -=1, Strgy 2, Usage Probability = 70%)

Comp 2= C, (priority = 2, Strgy 2, Usage Probability = 30%)

We want the system to use the above data & kick out Planned orders with quantities matching the above set up. If 100% qty of Comp B is avlbl, pick it, if not, the pick 100% of Comp C.

How can this be achieved with PPDS?
