Allow Version C/D SAP IBP Fiori but remove authorization 'Manage Versions > Delete' in Excel Add-In

Hi fellow experts,

We would like to remove the authorization for users to use the 'Manage Versions' functionality in the Excel Add-In,

because if Deletion is allowed, it could easily give rise to the accidental deletion of for example all Key Figure data from the Baseline.

However, we would like to keep authorization for users to use the Copy Version and Delete Version (for versions other than the Baseline) functionality in Fiori.

I noticed that if we remove authorization for 'VERSION (Version)' via Maintain Business Roles > Maintain Restrictions > Assigned Restriction Types > General > Administration Functions > Write > VERSION

(see 'The following table lists the available values for the restriction field Administration Functions (restriction area General, restriction type Administration Functions):' in SAP IBP Help > Available Restrictions)

Then, the users can also no longer use the Copy Version and Delete Version jobs in Fiori. As mentioned, we would like to keep this functionality such that they can Copy Version from Baseline to an ad-hoc-backup version, before which they should also be able to Delete the ad-hoc-backup version.

Any advice on how to achieve the above authorization?

If impossible to achieve the removal of the 'Manage Versions' in Excel only, how can ensure that a user's authorization allows only:

• to Copy from and to any version, but not into the Baseline?
• and more importantly: that the user can not Delete from the Baseline using Delete Version?

Hi,

As far as I could find, it does not seem to be possible to allow for Application Jobs to run Copy Version and Delete Version, but at the same time restrict the 'Manage Version' functionality to not be shown from the Excel Add-In. Instead, remove the mentioned VERSION authorization from as many users as possible who are not expected to run Version copies into Backup versions, and keep them only for a very limited set of trusted and trained users.

The only alternative I see would be customization of the SAP IBP Excel Add-In Ribbon / VBA.
