Alert notification in SAP S4/HANA public cloud and SAP BTP

Dear community,

I have access to SAP S4/HANA public cloud and SAP BTP, and hope I can find a solution to my problems in one of these platforms.

I have just added safety stock in masterdata, and would like to create notifications for each material when it reaches the safety stock level threshold. I would also like to add seperate notifications for when, based on future orders, it looks like the safety stock will be eaten into in x days.

I would preferably like to create a webhook from the notification, so I have explored "SAP Alert Notification service for SAP BTP", but I feel I don't have enough insight to say if this is a good solution? I am open to other solutions, and it would be nice if I was able to see when the problem occured, what the problem is, where I can fix it etc. in the alert.

I have also explored Situation Handling, both the standard and extended framework, but the same feeling of not enough insight occurs. Both SAP BTP and Situation Handling seem interesting, but I do not know where to start.

I would love some help in trying to figure this out, and I am open to other suggestions, and hope someone has some great experiences with managing alerts and notifications regarding stock levels.

Dear Marius,

To handle such scenario the app 'Monitor Material Coverage Net/Individual Segments' could be used with the shortage filter "Stock Days' Supply". This filter enables the monitor to show the following:

  • Stock Days' Supply

When calculating material shortages, the system compares stock with planned requirements. The system calculates the first shortage at the point in time where the available quantity becomes negative for the first time.

Periods in which the available quantity lies below the safety stock are displayed as critical (yellow) in the material availability chart and periods in which the available quantity lies below zero are displayed as red (shortage situation).

According to the filter the result reflects in the stock availability chart which provides a quick pictorial overview. Before exploring situation types or possibility of notification I would recommend to try the above. Hope it helps.
