Activation of PPDS Block planning in S/4 Hana

Hello,

I am having problem activating the block planning feature in PPDS S/4 Hana. Likewise in APO, block planning requires an initial setting that consists in :

1- Set organizational area in SPRO (O1CL) for relevant class type 400. This is done by SAP objects like mara, etc. Question is : Which object is involved in Block Planning. I read /SAPAPO/MATKEY. Why maintainin this ? See below point 3-. Not so sure of details here

2- Setting a Class (CL02) of type 400, with at least one organisational area as defined in step 1. Note the characteristic of this class must also be defined with organizational area. Creation looks OK

3- Transfer CIF to PPDS using cif model (CFM1, CFM2) of class and characteristic which are selected by this weird organizational area. Transfer is OK

4- Then here I should be able to start maintaining the blocks in resource master by selecting the model dependent master and attaching the class maintained in step 2. Although I can see my class with search help, when I select it, I receive an error message with no explanation "Invalid Class". Debug did not help me

There are many other steps but I am currently blocked in step 4

Hi Daniel,

I found the same issue, but it worked for me when I created the class type 300 & 400 with same name and characteristics by assigning the Organizational Area in S4 Hana and transferred the class type 300 along with organizational area.

Please let me know if you still face the issue.

Hi Daniel,

Was this issue resolved ? I am also stuck at the same step.

The only difference..I am attempting to setup block planning for discrete material i.e.,class 300 & 023 not involved.

Hi Daniel,

Two questions because I was struggling with same problem

Does your final where-used of characteristics in CT04 looks like below?

and CL02 overview of class 400 in administrative data looks like here?

If yes You should be able to choose Your CDP (400) class in RES01 - block planning tab, but main condition is to not define any Planning Version when enter to RES01 transaction - then You should be able to choose Your CDP class and create the blocks

Hi Daniel,

From what you have described, ideally the 300 class when CIF to PP/DS will create a 400 class automatically, you do not need to create a 400 class. Try to create a 300 class-char & then CIF it across to PP/DS & then try to assign it in the resource. Let me know if this fixes your issue.

Thank Ninad. I made it in my system 2009, however in customer version 1809 S4 and class does not get created via CIF. Likely OSS note to apply.

Hi Ninad,
I had a slightly similar question nut I am building a prototype for LBP rather than Block Planning.
I followed the similar steps as you but still the CDP class tab is not populated in the product master tab.
But, I am able to see my classes assigned to material with CDP class type 400 in F4.

Have you found any solution regarding it?
