Welcome to the latest release highlights for SAP Best Practices for SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP). In this blog, we will explore the key enhancements and updates introduced in release 2408. Let's dive into the details.

Enhancements in the SAPIBP1 Sample Planning Area:
The SAPIBP1 sample planning area has undergone several improvements in this release.

  • One notable enhancement is the introduction of the NAGINDEPNETWORK attribute. This new attribute allows you to split your supply network into subnetworks when running the Network Topology Operator application job. This feature provides greater flexibility for the users as they can now select subnetworks via the planning filter that has been enabled for the Network Aggregation Operator.

To simplify the modeling of 10 key figures in inventory optimization, the function IBP_ADD_TIME_DIMENSION has been introduced. This function is used to retrieve and return the value of the time-independent input key figure in a time-dependent output key figure.

  • In the past, the alpha and beta coefficient in the Croston TSB algorithm had to be defined manually. With release 2408, they can be calculated by an algorithm. Based on this new functionality, we updated the BestFit_Intermittent_Demand forecast model to allow the algorithm to calculate the coefficients. This improvement enhances the accuracy and reliability of demand forecasting, enabling users to make more informed decisions based on reliable data.

Sales and Operations:

  • To facilitate sales and operations business reviews, we have added a new preconfigured analytics story called "IBP Best Practices - Sales and Operations Business Review". This analytics story is utilized in solution processes such as reconciliation review (2BU) and management business review (2BW). It provides users with a comprehensive overview of key metrics and performance indicators, enabling them to make data-driven decisions.
Here are some screenshots to give you an impression of how it looks in the system. The structure is similar to the other preconfigured analytics stories - we start with an overview page with the most important key figures and information, followed by a set of more specific and detailed pages:
    • Forecast Revenue
    • Forecast Volume
    • Version Comparison
    • Capacity Consumption
    • CO2e Analysis
    • New Product Introduction
