RISE/GROW with SAP and ensure smooth maintenance scheduling
SAP S/4HANA Asset Management for resource scheduling is the strategic solution for maintenance-centric scheduling operations that are in-plant. The solution is fully integrated into SAP S/4HANA Cloud and requires no interfaces or data replication. This is the recommended solution for those customers who may have historically used SAP Multiresource Scheduling, or other third-party add-ons, especially for those customers who are transitioning from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA and need a solution to schedule their maintenance operations.
Over the last few years, SAP S/4HANA Cloud Asset Management for resource scheduling has come a long way in terms of functionality and customer adoption. We have introduced several key functionalities, driven by our customer influence program, to help businesses run more efficient, integrated maintenance operations. With that being said, I thought it made sense to create an updated blog and demonstration video, highlighting some of the latest key features. Following the demo, I would like to point out some of the key features that have been most impactful for our customers.
Lightweight Dispatching from Maintenance Scheduling Board
In SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2308 (SAP S/4HANA 2023 for private edition or on-premise), we released the option to open a People Gantt in the maintenance Scheduling Board via a menu board for one or more selected operations in the table section. This feature provides the ability to view the schedules of technicians and assign them directly from the condensed view by technician. Furthermore, by integrating into HR data (i.e., SAP S/4HANA or SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central), we take into consideration technicians work schedules and workloads, so schedulers can make sure they only assign operations to people that have planned availability to carry out the work.
Asset centric scheduling
Many organizations require a comprehensive view of their assets for scheduling. With this app, organizations can quickly view the entire maintenance schedule for assets in a clear hierarchical view, including sub-assets installed under superior ones. This app offers key functionality such as:
We also introduced many user enhancements such as drag-and-drop, the ability to set a planned start date, and user preferences for displaying data and screen layouts.
Long-medium term capacity planning
In SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2308, we also added the ability to execute mid-long-term planning, looking several months to a year out in a single graphical chart via the Manage Work Center Utilization app. This long-awaited feature provides planners/schedulers with better utilization forecasts to ensure optimal utilization of work centers before saving and dispatching maintenance order operations for a specific schedule period.
Schedule Management
As of SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2302, we released the option to create recurring schedules based on templates to SAP S/4HANA Asset Management for Resource Scheduling. This means users can define a scope for recurring schedules regarding work center, order types, phases, and other parameters. Furthermore, we released many user experience and integration enhancements, such as work center utilization and integrated label bars.
