Asset Risk Assessment

Assign failure mode to Risk & Criticality Assessments

Risk & Criticality Assessments are extended so that you can assign one or multiple  failure modes to each impact of a technical object to convey risk and potential failures. This enables you to run a failure mode centric paradigm in end-to-end asset management.

Key features

  • Display linked catalog profile in the Assignments tab.
  • Assign one or multiple failure modes against each impact assessed: Provides an F4 help selection field in the Assessments tab to select one or more failure modes per impact.
  • Apply To option: If all technical objects have the same catalog profile, the failure mode is assigned or copied only once when assessing multiple objects or when using the 'Apply To' option.

For more information, see Assessing Asset Criticality Based on the Risk Score.

These additional details are also supported with ‘Export/Import’ of Risk and Criticality Assessments.

Updated ‘Publish’ role in Risk & Criticality Assessments

We’re enhancing the authorization for Risk & Criticality Assessments. It is designed to differentiate the authorization on user roles so that it clear task separation is possible. Users with the RiskCriticalityAssessment_Publish  role can:

  • Release assessments.
  • Mark assessments as Obsolete.
  • Revert Obsolete status to previous state.

Asset Reliability Engineering

Assign failure data to Recommendations without assessments

We’re extending ‘Manage Recommendations’ application by enabling creation of Recommendations without assessments with failure data such as failure modes, failure effects and causes. This enhancement is part of our commitment to enable failure mode centric paradigm in end-to-end Asset Management.

Key features

Update on authorization with respect to Reliability Assessments

After the 2505 release, the permissions for releasing assessments will change. Users with the FMEAAssessments_Create and FMEAAssessments_Update roles will no longer have access. Instead, users with the FMEAAssessments_Publish role will be granted the ability to release assessments. The same applies to RCM Assessment roles such as RCMAssessments_Create and RCMAssessments_Update. Strategy Assessments roles are affected in the same manner. You can read more details in SAP help.

  • FMEAAssessments_Publish role: See 3567655
  • RCMAssessments_Publish role: See 3567615
  • StrategyAssessmentforClasses_Publish role: See 3567652

Enable attribute-based authorization on Strategy Assessment for Classes

‘Manage Strategy Assessment for Classes’ introduces attribute-based authorization based on ‘Planning Plant’ and ‘Maintenance Plant’ fields. This attribute-based authorization checks to ensure that information is only accessible to authorized users.

Key features

  • Update: Only users authorized for the specific Planning Plant and Maintenance Plant will be able to update these fields.
  • View: Users without authorization for the specific Planning Plant and Maintenance Plant combination will be able to view the assessment and recommendations. This allows you to review the information before deciding whether to proceed with copying.

This provides the necessary authorization and effective controls to support central and regional Strategy Assessment for Classes as Templates and Assessments.

Asset Data and Information Management

Efficiently manage your industrial system structure with new ‘Export and Import’ options

Managing complex industrial system hierarchies is now easier than ever with our new Export and Import options available in the System Structure dropdown under the Structure tab. This functionality is designed to save time and enhance efficiency by streamlining the process of building and integrating system hierarchies.

Key Features

  • Export system structure: Build and export the hierarchy of your industrial systems. This feature allows for a structured and detailed view, facilitating the sharing and documentation of system configurations.
  • Import system structure: Seamlessly import existing industrial system hierarchies using Excel files. This capability ensures quick integration of system data, maintaining consistency and reducing manual entry errors.

Previously, building an industrial system required manually creating each system and its elements one by one. Now, with the 'Import System Structure' feature, the process is streamlined

  1. Initiating import
Navigate to the 'Import System Excel' option, click 'Browse' to select your Excel file containing the system hierarchy details, and start the import process.
  2. Asynchronous processing
The Job Manager handles the import asynchronously. You can track the status as 'In Process', 'Completed' or identify any issues if marked as 'Failed'. This transparency ensures you are informed of the process at each stage.
  3. Automatic system creation
Upon completion, the system automatically creates the entire hierarchy using the imported Excel data. This includes all general information, language settings, plant details, and system elements. The tree structure with top nodes, functional hierarchies, products, and locations is compiled, offering a comprehensive view of the entire system.
  4. Verification and expansion
Users can expand the hierarchy to view detailed node information and verify the accuracy of the imported data. This feature enables you to confirm that the system reflects the intended structure and details.

These export and import capabilities streamline system management, reduce errors, and save time, making it easier to maintain accurate industrial system hierarchies. For more details, see the SAP Help Portal Export or Import a System Structure.

Enhance industrial system navigation with ‘Expand All’ and ‘Collapse All’ features

Navigating through complex industrial system hierarchies has become simpler with our new Expand All and Collapse All buttons. These tools allow users to quickly view or minimize their entire system structure, enhancing efficiency and ease of navigation.

Key Features

  • Expand all and collapse all buttons
These buttons, located in the structure tab, provide a quick and comprehensive view of your entire system hierarchy or simplify your workspace by collapsing all nodes. This is perfect for quickly locating specific system elements, especially after page reloads or re-navigation.
  • Seamless functionality with large data sets
The system is designed to manage both small and extensive data hierarchies effectively, ensuring that users can expand or collapse structures effortlessly, even when handling a significant amount of data.

Download a pre-formatted Microsoft excel template to build a system hierarchy

Our latest feature simplifies the process of organizing and managing industrial system hierarchies through a downloadable, pre-formatted Microsoft excel template. Accessible via the "Download Template" button on the list page, this tool is designed to enhance efficiency and organization.

Key Features

  • Structured design: The template offers a structured approach to building a hierarchy of your industrial systems, ensuring consistency and accuracy across your data.
  • Comprehensive sheets: The Excel file includes multiple sheets to cover all aspects of your system's hierarchy:
    • System Header Details: Capture essential details of your system.
    • Top Node: Define the principal node of your hierarchy.
    • System Element Hierarchy (or Aspect Hierarchy): Organize the elements or aspects within your system.
    • Relationships (or Product Individual): Map out relationships or individual product details.
    • Product Individual: Detail each unique product within your hierarchy.

Asset Health Monitoring

Configure alert status and alert creation date from rules

‘Manage Rules’ in release 2502 introduces new enhancements designed to give you greater control over your alert workflows. With the latest updates, you now have the ability to configure the initial alert status and alert creation timestamp directly from your monitoring rules, making your processes more efficient and tailored to your needs. (* APM based on embedded IoT only)

Key features

  • Alert status customization
With the new 'Alert Status' field, you can set whether alerts generated by a rule should begin in the 'New' status or 'In Process' status. This flexibility allows you to align alerts with your team’s workflow, ensuring that alerts are handled appropriately from the moment they're created. Based on this it is for example possible to create alerts in status 'In Process' right from the beginning in case a parallel notification has been created at the same time.

  • Control alert creation date
The 'Alert Creation Date' feature gives you the power to specify the timestamp for alerts generated by rules. This control for example ensures that alert creation timestamps accurately reflect the timing of the conditions that triggered their creation, enhancing your ability to track and respond to events.

Enhancing Rules with flexible user notifications

We’re providing users with greater flexibility in receiving and managing notifications. The introduction of the "User Notification" feature is designed to streamline communication and improve workflow efficiency by providing customizable notification options for your rules.
(*APM based on embedded IoT only)

Key Features

  • Customizable notification body: Note in email notification’s body is fully customizable including dynamic values and hyperlinks. This flexibility ensures that emails convey the necessary context and details for recipients to take appropriate action.
  • Default email body include clickable hyperlinks to created alert and affected technical object.
  • Recipient selection: Users must select notification recipients from those maintained within the Identity provider associated with APM. This ensures alerts are directed to the correct individuals and maintains compliance with user management policies.
  • Flexible delivery options: Notifications can be delivered as FLP notifications or as emails, depending on user preferences. This flexibility allows users to choose the most convenient mode of alert delivery, enhancing usability and reducing notification fatigue.
  • User-controlled subscription: Users can manage their notification preferences, deciding whether to receive alerts as FLP notifications, emails, or a combination of both. This control over alert delivery ensures that users receive notices in a way that best fits their workflow and priorities.

Hi Young,

Thanks for developing new features in APM and sharing them here. Regarding 'Enhancing rule management with flexible user notifications,' I could not see the option for notifications. How can this feature be enabled? Does it require early adopter access? I believe this feature will generate notifications in the Fiori Launchpad. How can we receive these notifications on a mobile device?

Regards,

Shirsendu Roy
