Welcome to our latest release blog for SAP Asset Performance Management 2403*. We're excited to share new improvements including email notifications as rule output, enhanced integration with SAP S/4HANA, the Job Manager application, and upgrades for handling large volumes of data. We've also made some UI improvements around harmonized status display, and variant management. Let's dive in.

*for simplicity I will refer in the following blog to SAP Asset Performance Management as APM. The blog topics are structured by APM business capability.

Asset Health Monitoring

Send e-mail notifications as rule output

Traditionally, condition monitoring was a resource-intensive process as you needed to constantly monitor alerts if you wanted to act upon them in a timely manner.

Now we can use email as output for streaming and scheduled rules in SAP Asset Performance Management. It aids in swiftly informing the responsible personnel about an incident, thereby enabling quicker reactions to manage potential issues. It eliminates the need for a person to constantly monitor the system for alerts, saving valuable resources and time. This function greatly streamlines your communication processes, fostering a more responsive and efficient working environment.

Note that caution should be exercised in defining the triggering conditions to prevent overwhelming recipients with duplicate emails. Watch the detailed video to see how it's configured and how the email notification looks:

Navigate to SAP S/4HANA directly from the View Technical Objects (Inspections) application to manage notifications and orders

Further enhancements have been made to our integration with SAP S/4HANA, bringing more convenience and efficiency to your workflow in the View Technical Objects (Inspections) application. With our new feature, you can select a technical object and simply click the Manage Notification and Order button to seamlessly navigate to the Maintenance Notifications and Orders application in SAP S/4HANA. Here, the filters are automatically applied based on the technical objects you initially selected in the SAP Asset Performance Management. This means less manual manipulation, facilitating increased accuracy, quicker data management and improved overall maintenance efficiency. Please note that this feature is only available if you have a central SAP Fiori Launchpad. Watch the video:

Asset Reliability Engineering

Job Manager

The new Job Manager application is designed to aid you in monitoring and managing time-consuming, complex transactions. This application handles initialization, updating, and the overseeing of asynchronous jobs or operations. One of the key features of Job Manager is its ability to provide a comprehensive overview of the status of individual jobs. This enables you to stay updated on the progression of various tasks, facilitating more efficient management of your operations.

Note that jobs cannot be created manually using the Job Manager application. You can only trigger a job and its tasks in applications such as Risk and Criticality Assessments and Strategy Assessment for Classes. For more information, see the SAP Help Portal Job Manager and watch this video:

Import/export risk & criticality assessments to Excel with 10x more technical objects using Job Manager

Now you can effortlessly import and export risk and criticality assessments with ten times more technical objects without fearing data processing timeouts. By consuming the Job Manager when importing/exporting risk and criticality assessments to Excel, handling large volumes of technical objects (TOs) has never been smoother. You can:

  • Import/export many more technical objects than before (up to 1000).

  • Continue to work offline capabilities via the asynchronous framework of the job manager

This shift towards the asynchronous framework helps you enjoy unlimited scalability, efficient offline operations, and significantly improved system performance. Learn more in this video:

Copy strategy assessment for classes

You can copy a class-based assessment with the underlying recommendations to create a new strategy assessment for class.

Harmonization of Status Display

In our quest to enhance the user experience across all our applications, we've optimized the way we display statuses in the assessment apps and recommendation apps. We've prominently positioned the status at the right most position of the object header to make it more visible and introduced color-coding for each status. This will allow users to comprehend the status more intuitively and instantly and give a consistent look and feel.

Variant Management in RCM & Failure Mode and Effects Analysis Assessments

We've introduced variant management for the Manage FMEA Assessments and Manage RCM Assessments applications. This offers the following features:

  • Sharing of variants: Users can share their defined variants with other users or make them public if they wish to.
  • Default variants: Users can set a specific variant as their default, which automatically applies each time the user accesses the application.
  • Editing variants: This feature enables users to alter existing variants.
  • Deletion of variants: Users can delete the variants that are no longer needed.
  • Favourites: Users can mark variants as favourites for quick and easy access.
  • Execution on app startup: If chosen, the variant will be automatically applied when the app starts up.

Having variants saves time because users won't need to create the same variant over and over again if someone else has already created it. Instead, they can simply use the public variant. Public variants ensure consistency across the team or organization when reviewing and analyzing data. Everyone will view the data through the same lens, which can lead to more accurate analysis and conclusions. It allows for standardization so that everyone on your team or in your organization can view data in the same way, leading to shared understanding and less confusion.

This feature should be used wisely to avoid the flooding of public variants. To ensure the correct ones are visible, you can mark them as favorites.
