What' New in S/4 HANA 2023: Handling Unit Warehouse Tasks for Follow-Up Actions

Current Challenge:

Posting usage decisions for quality inspections it is not possible to create handling unit (HU) warehouse tasks for follow-up actions. Especially when working with nested-HUs this can lead to unwanted side-effects (e.g. top-HU gets deleted when the product warehouse tasks are confirmed for the sub-HUs).The above issue was registered from customer connection program and SAP has delivered solution in S/4 HANA2023 which can be downported to S/4 HANA 2021.

For some customers business requirement, it is required to perform Pallet Level UD not at Box level if shipment is nested HU

Solution

This feature enables  to automatically create handling unit (HU) warehouse tasks for follow-up actions when you post usage decisions for quality inspections involving HUs. HU warehouse task can be created in IMG Activity "Extended Warehouse Management -> Cross-Process Settings -> Quality Management -> Inspection Results -> Maintain Follow-Up Actions -> Assign Logistical Follow-Up Actions" (embedded EWM).

The supported internal actions are:

- Blocked/Scrapping

- Putaway

When process-oriented storage control is used this new features will be ignored and the warehouse task creation is handled by process-oriented storage control logic.

Benefit

You can now decide if you want to create product or HU warehouse task for follow-up actions. This means that you can move the whole nested-HU (top-HU) instead each sub-HU.

Replicate:

Create a nested handling units during Inbound delivery receiving either from RF( New Functionality from 2023), via manual packing or via Multi level Pack spec.

  • Perform GR and check the QI document generated

  • Check the Inspection lot created with 17* Series

  • Perform Usage decision QA32 on Top HU. For certain customers, it does not makes sense to open the Pallet and check Carton level QI, customer prefers to conduct Pallet level Quality Inspection

  • Check the Task created at top HU level.

Task is created at Top HU hence, the functionality is working as expected.
