SAP Best Practices for SAP Integrated Business Planning.png

You might have heard about or even used SAP Best Practices for SAP S/4HANA. But are you aware that SAP also delivers SAP Best Practices for other solutions such as SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) for Supply Chain? In that blog series we want to give you more insights specific to the SAP Best Practices for SAP IBP. The series of blogs gives an overview about the assets and usage of SAP Best Practices and business processes supported in SAP IBP by SAP Best Practices.

In the first blog post, we want to give you an introduction about SAP Best Practices and the benefits it gives to you. In general, SAP Best Practices for IBP are standardized business processes, for example, for:

  • Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP)
  • Response and Supply Planning
  • Demand Planning
  • Inventory Optimization

The content is delivered via various assets and aims to serve as a starting point for your SAP IBP journey. The key benefits of using Best Practices are:

  • Fit gap analysis:
Before you start with your implementation, you can use the predefined business processes to understand potential gaps within the solution. Also, you can use the business processes to learn how typical scenarios are modeled within SAP IBP.
  • Reduced Implementation Time:
First, by using pre-configured content and guided configurations, you can significantly reduce the time required to implement IBP processes. Second, SAP Best Practices provides a sample planning area supporting different planning processes. Using the sample planning area as a starting point reduces the modeling effort. Also, you get content including planning views, analytic stories, alerts, and sample data.
  • Improved Quality and Consistency:
Adopting proven methodologies and content like extensive documentation on the configuration and on the business processes for high-quality outcomes and consistency.
  • Risk Mitigation:
By applying established SAP Best Practices processes, you reduce the risk of errors and implementation failures.
  • Faster Time to Value:
On the one hand, you can quickly realize the benefits of your SAP IBP investment, with faster deployment of the business processes as a template for your company. On the other hand, it is important to know that you have the flexibility to extend the configuration and processes to meet your business goals.

How can SAP Best Practices now help on your concrete use case? The picture before gives an overview of the different use cases. Some of our customers are using SAP Best Practices as a starting point for study and educating themselves and using the materials for training purposes. Others use the SAP Best Practices content for a proof of concept or a pilot implementation. But also, many customers used it as a basis for their implementation project.

And the best I haven't t told you so far – all SAP Best Practices content is free of charge. You only need a user for the support applications in the SAP ONE Support Launchpad (aka S-User) to access the SAP Signavio Process Navigator, that’s all.

To summarize, SAP Best Practices give a strong foundation to implement SAP IBP business processes effectively. By applying pre-configured SAP IBP content, you can accelerate your implementation timelines, reduce costs, and achieve consistent, high-quality results.
