With the latest 2402 release, we are bringing 3D asset visualization capabilities to SAP Asset Performance Management (APM) via standard integration with SAP Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).

This integration enables an APM user to visualize assets in 3D, based on imported Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Computed Aided Design (CAD) data, all inside the APM “Explore Technical Objects” app tile.  As you can see in the screenshot below, the selected technical object is highlighted in the visualization iframe, with info card activated which displays related information.

With APM master data (which is based on the S/4HAN data model) and APM indicators (e.g. risk and criticality, asset health score) painted over these 3D, the user can quickly trigger actions such as perform a reliability assessment or create a notification from the same screen!

If your organization already has an active subscription to APM and PLM, you can already set up this user experience by tagging the assets in the visualization data set in PLM and configure the APM UI using Key User Extension to include the correct PLM URLs.   We will publish a technical blog to walk through this process step-by-step soon, but in the meantime, please check out a demo video and simple how-to slides on this integration:
