Today I would like to highlight a solution coming from our SAP Consulting Digital Supply Chain, the SimpleFioris@EWM.

Warehouses require intuitive and easy-to-use user interfaces to support warehouse employees in their daily operations. Especially often re-occurring tasks benefit from an excellent user experience. In addition, the UI should be responsive to support not only workstation operations but also offer to complete the task on a mobile device. Since some customers have special requirements and processes, the UIs must be easy to extend.

Motivation and Scope

• High-performance warehouses require simple UIs for the main processes like picking and packing


• The workstation UIs should be intuitive – onboarding of new warehouse staff should not require extensive training sessions


• Large function keys and font sizes enable the workstation UIs for touchscreens

Functionality

SimplePacking

• Create shipping handling units


• Pack stock from a picking handling unit into a shipping handling unit during the outbound process


• Close the shipping handling unit when packing is finished


• Display stock currently at the workstation


• Print and delete handling units

SimplePicking

• Confirm picking warehouse tasks from a source handling unit into the picking handling unit


• Perform difference and split exception handling


• Create picking handling units


• Support goods-to-person scenarios in an automated warehouse


• Display stock currently at the workstation


• Print and delete handling units

SimpleYard

• Create, edit and display transportation units


• Perform actions on transportation units like the arrival at checkpoint


• Assign doors to a transportation unit

Technical Architecture

• EWM in S/4HANA Decentralized or Embedded or EWM 9.x on NetWeaver


• App deployment on the EWM system or in the SAP Cloud Platform

Service Outlook

This service is live since 08/2020. New functionality will be added in the future considering requirements from different customers. The SimplePacking app is already available, SimplePicking and SimpleYard will follow soon. Additional UIs might follow in the future.
