In late May, Gartner announced its annual “Worldwide Supply Chain Management Software” numbers report, for 2012. It was great to see that SAP retained its No. 1 market share position in SCM in 2012, with an 11.6 percent increase in U.S. dollars. In fact Gartner highlighted that “SAP has been the market share leader within the aggregated supply chain market for more than a decade”.
A decade! To put that into perspective, in May 2004 (when they announced the 2003 numbers):
A lot has happened in the decade since then, but one thing has remained constant, SAP’s continued innovation and leadership in the Supply Chain space. Therefore, it is also no accident that when Gartner Announced the rankings of its 2013 Supply Chain Top 25 the following week, it was dominated by SAP customers. In fact, based on research by SAP, at least 22 of the Gartner top 25 Supply Chains are SAP and Ariba customers.
As Hans Thalbauer, senior vice president, Line-of-Business Solutions for Supply Chain commented, “ We believe Gartner's findings demonstrate the strong momentum SAP has in the SCM market, and show that the company is growing exceedingly faster than the overall market and top competitors." Hans continued, "We feel our market share growth validates the strength of our product innovations, and our involvement in the top 25 supply chains demonstrates high customer demand for our SCM solution offerings."
Overall, these 2 announcements are a great endorsement on SAP’s long term and ongoing commitment to Supply Chain Management and the customers that we serve. It is great to see both get recognized in such a high profile way. Congratulations to the Gartner Top 25.

Due to many legal reasons I am not allowed to state the SAP customers. However, I am sure that you may be reading this blog on a device made by some of these companies. You may be even sitting in a vehicle or wearing apparel from others. You may even be eating and drinking food from SAP customers in the top 25, and if you are, don’t forget to brush your teeth!
