Introduction

In any manufacturing operation, every production minute counts and the consequences of any delays can heavily disrupt the production schedule, creating a cascade of undesired consequences.

Understanding the value of real-time information to mitigate those risks, SAP Digital Manufacturing recently introduced a brand new capability called 'Real-Time Monitoring View' as part of Resource Orchestration (REO) in 24.05 Release.

In this blog post, I will briefly discuss Real-Time Monitoring View capability and guide you a quick demo.

Real-Time Monitoring View

In any factory floor, everyone´s goal is to produce smoothly and deliver on time and quality. But as a friend of mine always say 'When man plans, god laughs', and having real-time information handy is most probably one of the biggest diferentiators between falling behind and insight-to-action and reacting in time.

At its core, the brand new Real-Time Monitoring View capability enables users to track production schedules and order executions in real-time.

Supervisors no longer need to rely on outdated (paper?) reports or guesswork. With a few clicks, they can gain immediate insights into the progress of their orders and operations, identify potential backlogs, and take proactive measures to mitigate any risks.

Some key functionalities of the Real-Time Monitoring View are:

Real-Time Status Updates
Imagine a scenario where a high prio order is behind schedule. With real-time status updates, supervisors can easily intervene, reallocating resources or adjusting schedules to ensure timely delivery. This proactive approach minimizes disruptions and maintains customer satisfaction.

Shift Planning and Workforce Attendance
Effective workforce management is crucial for optimal productivity. Resource Orchestration (REO) provides out of the box Tools, Labor, Skills and Shift planning capabilities, and now the new Real-Time Monitoring View capability provides detailed information on shift plans and workforce attendance in a central place and in real-time, empowering supervisors to optimize staffing levels and allocate resources efficiently. By monitoring workforce availability and skills in real-time, supervisors can avoid understaffing issues that could disrupt production.

Preventing Potential Backlogs
Even the smallest delay in production can cascade into a backlog if left unattended. The new Real-Time Monitoring View capability includes a feature to identify potential backlogs in order execution. By noticing these bottlenecks early on, supervisors can take corrective actions to keep operations running smoothly, preventing costly delays and maintaining efficiency.

In addition, the new Real-Time Monitoring View capability offers synchronized data representation based on the plant's time zone. This ensures that users receive accurate and consistent information regardless of their location, facilitating seamless collaboration and decision-making across distributed teams.
