SAP Asset Strategy and Performance Management is the reliability application in SAP's Intelligent Asset Management suite of cloud based applications for asset management that includes: SAP Asset Intelligence Network; SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service; SAP Predictive Engineering Insights enabled by ANSYS and SAP Asset Manager (mobile). Asset Central Foundation is a common master data layer shared by all the applications.

SAP Asset Strategy and Performance Management enables enterprises to adopt a risk based approach to asset management. The scope is shown in the graphic below:

In the 1906 (2019, June) release (quarterly release cycle), there are ongoing continuous improvements for the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) applications as well as a new application for Preventive Maintenance Review (PMR).

For RCM and FMEA it is now possible create a Recommendation. Recommendations can be created with reference to the following:

  • Existing Instructions

  • Placeholder Instructions (use existing ones or create new ones)

  • Imported Preventive Maintenance Tasks (SAP PM Task Lists “filtered” by Technical Object Maintenance Plans)

  • Imported Tasks (SAP PM Task Lists)

The screen shot below, shows the RCM Assessment with a Recommendation.

The new application Preventive Maintenance Review (PMR) manages the recommendations to create published instructions. Instructions are the details of how the maintenance work should be executed. The instruction can include the job steps, spare parts required, resources required etc.

The published instructions are the basis for the execution in SAP PM. In the 1906 release, there is the possibility to export these to a .csv file and upload to SAP PM as new or changed Task List.
