RF Physical Inventory: HU Collective Count & Collective Item Count for a Serialized Product

Objective:

1. To understand how RF Physical inventory counting is performed at HU level against a serialized product. The serial number requirement is activated at Warehouse level( B) for the product.
2. To understand how completion indicator is auto updated during PI counting conducted at HU level and Hu item level
3. To understand why counting at Handling unit level is indispensable for serialized Product.  

Replication Steps

In below example 2 cases are chosen. 

1. 3 Full Pallets, 9 Boxes each
2. 2 Full Pallets, 9 boxes each and one partial pallet having 3 Boxes.

HU collective counting is activated at PI area level.

Collective HU count- Facilitate counting by entering the total count results without verifying each HU number. This is applicable to such a business requirement when Product is serialized and its asked just to validate number of HU without verifying each Serial number in case Counted qty= System counted. Imagine Product having 50+ serialized qty, RF counting process would be highly compromised if counting is performed at Product level.

Hu Collective counting could also be used for  Multi HU stock( Nested HU) and its makes sense to just to count the number of Top HU instead of scanning each lower level HU.

Product is serialized having serial no profile which is at Whse level.

3 Full HU are in final storage type.

Perform the full Hu count from RF.

By entering the number of HUs in a storage bin,if the total number matches, the RF device displays COMPLETE for all HUs automatically. Since booked HU count =3 matches with Bin HU count.

The PI document is marked with completed as number of counted HU matches with actual Booked HU inventory from system without scanning serial number.

2) Collective HU item Count:

This allows to count number of Full HU, Qty per HU & partial quantity in a bin.

Perform the HU Item level count.

System auto updates the status as completed of number of HU, qty per Hu and number of partial quantities of Boxes matches with system qty. No need to scan the serial number.

The counted Hus gets auto completion indicator.

Important Point:HU collective counting is supported only for Storage-Bin-Specific physical inventory procedures

AL - Annual Physical Inventory (Storage-Bin-Specific)

EL - External Procedure (Storage-Bin-Specific)

Customers implementing serial number having requirement type B and C must fully weigh the usage  of Handling unit  as this drastically reduces the effort of extra scan during PI count. Serial number at HU level also helps in manufacturing during consumption of serialized HU. System will just prompt to scan HU not each serialized Product either via RF or Fiori based consumption.

All test have been performed in S/4 HANA 2022 Embedded Sandbox system
