In this blog post, I would like to demonstrate the process steps required for executing immediate loading with the split of freight unit and outbound delivery order in TM and EWM respectively.
Prerequisites:
Please make sure to check blog post - Advanced Shipping & Receiving - Immediate Loading, for Immediate Loading overview, configuration steps, and testing Scenario 1 - happy flow scenario without freight unit / delivery split.
Testing Scenario and Steps:
NOTE: The following testing scenario has been executed on SAP S/4HANA OP2023 FPS02 with embedded EWM and TM solutions.
Scenario #2: Partial Loading with Delivery Split:
In this scenario we will pick and pack all items in outbound delivery order, then will set ''Packed for Shipping'' status for only one Handling Unit manually, then loading completion can be set on Freight Order level in order to trigger delivery/FU split.
2.1- Create Outbound Delivery in Logistics Execution (Tx. VL01NO)
Figure 20 - Create outbound delivery without reference in LE
2.2- Create Picking Warehouse Tasks (Tx. /SCWM/MON)
Figure 21 - Create Picking WTs
2.3- Confirm Picking Warehouse Tasks (Tx. /SCWM/RFUI)
Outbound Proceses->Picking->Picking by WO
> > >>
Figure 22 - Confirm Picking WTs
2.4- Set 'Packed for Shipping' status for one HU (Tx. /SCWM/MON)
Figure 23 - Set 'Packed for Shipping' status
2.5- Create Freight Order (App. Create Road Freight Order)
1. Assign Outbound Delivery to Freight Order: Iterms -> Insert->Insert FUs Based on Base Document ID
2. Assign Carrier: Business Partner->Add Carrier
3. Update Transportation Status: Execution Status->Set Ready for Transportation Status
Figure 24 - Create Freight Order
2.6- Loading one Handling Unit (App. Load or Unload Freight Order)
Execution Status->Set Items to Loaded
Figure 25 - Loading one HU
2.7- Set Loading Completion (App. Load or Unload Freight Order)
Execution Status->Set Stop to Loading Completed
Figure 26 - Set loading Completion
This is the trigger of FU and ODO split, so before you execute this step please make sure that you don't have open warehouse tasks for ODO which is part of the FO, otherwise error messages will appear and split won't be possible.
2.8- Check Original Outbound Delivery Order (Tx. /SCWM/PRDO)
Items->Document Flow
Figure 27 - Check Original ODO
Original ODO quantity has been reduced by the quantity not loaded yet and a new split ODO has been created with the remaining quantity and HU information.
2.9- Check New Split Outbound Delivery Order (Tx. /SCWM/PRDO)
Figure 28 - Check New Split ODO
Picking and Packing statuses are updated in the new ODO with the same HU which is not loaded, additionally there is new split LE outbound delivery created of course with same quantity but without HU information as Ready for Shipping status is not set yet.
2.10- Check New Split Freight Unit (App. Delivery Integration - Worklist)
Planning Status = 01 (Not Planned)
Figure 29 - Check New Split FU
2.11- Set 'Ready for Shipping' Status in Original Outbound Delivery Order (Tx. /SCWM/MON)
Figure 30 - Set to Ready for Shipping on Original ODO
2.12- Check LE Outbound Delivery (Tx. VL03N)
Figure 31 - Check original LE Outbound Delivery after status update
Handling Units information will be communicated to LE outbound delivery after setting Ready for Shipping status on ODO level in EWM.
2.13- Post Goods Issue (App. Load or Unload Freight Order)
Goods Movement->Post

Conclusion:
Immediate Loading is a new feature of Advanced Shipping and Receiving that further optimises the outbound process and gives warehouses more flexibility during performing loading activities, especially in a delivery split scenario that automatically triggers the split of the freight unit and outbound delivery order in EWM and TM respectively.
During this blog, I have tried to execute the process steps using a mix of different GUI transactions and Fiori applications to show the different options available during executing each step. Also, this blog focused on a warehouse driven scenario. However, immediate loading functionality is also supported in a transport-driven scenario.
