In High Rack warehouses, most of the time Its a requirement to restrict capacity of Storage Bins to store maximum no. of HUs. This functionality is directly available if you use Storage Type - storage behavior as "Pallet" or "Bulk". However due to warehouse arrangement you are bound to use Storage Type with "Standard" behavior along with bin capacity check. In this Blog, I would demonstrate how we can achieve this with Standard EWM Configuration and master data.
For example in the below screen, storage bin HF04031 and HF04032 can store 2 HUs and 3 HUs max. Once you start Putaway of the HUs in a bin the capacity is calculated dynamically.
Pre-Requisite:
Configuration:
Master Data:
Testing:
Update storage bins with Capacity. Here I have updated Bin HF04031 and HF04032 with capacity value 2 and 3, this means bin HF04031 and HF04032 can store max of 2 and 3 HUs respectively. As the bin is empty you can see that the remaining capacity is fully available.
Create Inbound delivery and Create Putaway WT for it, system will assign the destination bin based on Capacity of storage bin. Once the capacity is full, system will propose the next storage bin.
After Putaway WT is completed, the remaining capacity is calculated and updated.
You can see Remaining Capacity of bin HF04031 is Zero after Putaway of 2 HUs in it. Now no further HU can be Putaway in this bin.
In Case, a user have to decide its own destination bin (Storage Type setting > WT Generic=1), and user tries to do Putaway by RF in a bin for which bin capacity is full, system will throw error message "Maximum capacity was exceeded by X (/SCWM/HUGENERAL149)".
