The travel distance calculation (TDN) is a very complex functionality in EWM, which needs many data to work properly. The process of completing of all this data is very complicated and lacks on comprehensive visualisation and tools in standard system. Mostly you have to edit or import tables with XYZ bin coordinates, local and global edges and you have no visual tool to check, whether the network is complete or not. SAP Warehouse Insigts helps to visualize the network in much more responsive way, than /SCWM/GWL does. Moreover, it allows to complete the missing parts of the network in the layout graphically.
SAP Warehouse Insights is a new cloud product, which allows to connect to SAP EWM or any other warehouse system. Among other functions it helps to visualize warehouse layout, consisting of a bin structure in a XY view.
Visualisation of processed Warehouse Order
Lately a cute functionality in SAP Warehouse Insights was introduced, which offers to display a track of a processed Warehouse order, on the warehouse layout layer.
So, basically, what is the necessary input:
consistent bin structure with coordinates XYZ
defined edges for particular rack aisles
definition of joining edges between particular storage types and zones
import of a set of confirmed WO's including WT's
Most of the data can be imported from EWM using report Z_WI_DOWNLOAD_TABLES (see Note 2722858). If you want to establish permanent connection of Warehouse Insights to your EWM system, you have to setup the data interface in customizing.
Start the Manage Travel Distance Network app form the launchpad. In the app you should see a complete network of local edges, connecting all bins withing each storage type. You shoul also see a complete global network, connecting all storage types to each other. For better readability you can filter for particular storage type.
Manage Travel Distance Network
In Warehouse layout app you select a WO from the data you downloaded from EWM. The track of its WT items is displayed. You can see where the WO started and all stops on the wa to the final bin - packing station. All partial distances are calculated.

You can also check the grid of edges, which was used for the distance calculation.
Alternatively you can display just the travel route, which would system use for calculation of the travel distance from one bin to another one. Just enter the pair of bins and see the visualisation.

Conclusion
SAP Warehouse Insigts can help to check and complete the travel distance network (TDN) visually and to check its consistency on a real Warehouse Orders.
