Introduction

POD Designer Tips and Tricks. In this blog, I will show how can you easily enable and use Action Buttons directly in Operation Activity List POD Plugin, adding flexibility and enabling new use cases.

When enabled, Action Buttons will show in Operation Activity List POD Plugin in the 'Action' column as follows:ManoelCosta_0-1721329312699.png

Configure it

To enabled this, you must select a 'List' in the Operation Activity List POD Plugin, where 'Multiple Selection' is set to 'OFF'.

To do that, select Operation Activity List POD Plugin and select an existing List or create a new one, making sure 'Multiple Selection' is 'OFF':

After that, still with Operation Activity List POD Plugin selected, scroll down to the bottom of the Configuration panel until you see 'In-Queue' configuration fields, which are displayed when the SFC is New or In-Queue status, and 'In-Work Action' configuration fields, which are displayed when the SFC is In-Work.

When SFCs are New or In-Queue, one potential action would be to start it, which is actually already suggested out of the box in the Label and Tooltip fields. So, to complete this config, select the existing standard 'Start' Action Button in 'In-Queue Action ID'.

When SFCs are In-Work, one potential action would be to complete it, which is actually already suggested out of the box in the Label and Tooltip fields. So, to complete this config, select the existing standard 'Complete' Action Button in 'In-Work Action ID'.

In addition to that, as 'Start' and 'Complete' Action Buttons are now configured to show up in Operation Activity List POD Plugin itself, you can hide the existing 'Start' and 'Complete' action buttons by turning their  'Visible' configuration to OFF, for both of them:

Now save your POD and give it a try.

Try it

If you select a New or In-Queue SFC, you should see the new 'Start' button showing up:

If you select an In-Work SFC, you should see the new 'Complete' button showing up:

Which can be used to Start the Complete the selected SFC.

What else?

You can use the same process and configuration to trigger any action button, any other process or flow.

To illustrate that, I created a brand new Action Button called 'Check and Start', which calls a Production Process Design, and linked it to the 'In-Queue Action ID':

Which shows as nicely in Operation Activity List POD Plugin:

And when clicked, performs some handshake and checks with shop floor automation, before starting the SFC.

In addition to 'In-Queue' and 'In-Work' Action configurations, you can also define:

  • Operation Activity List Action ID: That triggers an action button when a row is selected.
  • Operation Activity List Page Navigation: That triggers a navigation when a row is selected.

Which can be used only one at a time, not both at the same time, and are triggered when a row (an operation activity) is selected in the Operation Activity List POD Plugin.

Keep in mind that, if 'Auto Select' is ON at Operation Activity List POD Plugin Configuration panel, this Action or Navigation will always be triggered automatically.
